Fires... And Memories

With the many fires in Southern Oregon and Northern California, it's natural to be feeling weary of smoke and the constant focus on all the fires.  Escaping even for a few days is a good thing, if you can. This is why I created the Bandon office, for these summers, however friends and clients know I won't be heading there this summer due to the broken foot.  I am seeing clients in my Grants Pass office and here in Ashland, and will return to Bandon in September.

I remember when I when I was in the Boulder floods with only the clothes on my back for months and not able to go back to my house.  There was a lost, wandering type of feeling, a unique form of fear that was widespread.  I backpacked up and in weeks later even with my back injury, up 9,000 elevation... helicopters and soldiers helping me over the big crevasses.  It was like a war zone, the entire four mile canyon came down right behind me. This is where I had to outrun a 30' wave of water and debris and barely escaped, then injured in the second run of that getaway and ultimately fighting to regain life and mobility for the next 18 months.  I was so new I had no true friends yet and struggled to become well alone and afraid.  It was most certainly difficult and required openness, humility, resourcefulness, perseverance and advanced practice.  It's here that I extended and refined my expertise in nervous system regulation and somatic trauma healing.  Such a Blessing, this work.

Lots of trauma is activated within people during these natural and sudden disasters.  It is in Boulder that my skills developed and in teaching nervous system regulation and healing from trauma. Further trainings and refinement in these processes continue.  I find for myself diligent practice and experiencing authentic Gratitude for all things small and large helps alot. Hang in Everyone.  As the lotus that blooms in the mud, so we can come to find the jewels in every experience after the trauma is healed.

Feel free to contact me if you need some help.  It's natural in these times and circumstances.  Reaching out is good to your friends, your neighbors, your helpers of all forms.  See my website for more on this experience, and for August specials.  Be sure and let me know if you need sliding scale rates.  Take good care.
